The information provided on this page is purely general and superficial explanations of how website operators should draft their own imprint. This article does not constitute reliable legal advice or actual recommendations for action, as we cannot assess business relationships with customers and visitors in advance. Imprint - the basics

In Germany, an imprint is required for websites that are not exclusively for personal or family purposes. It states who is the author or responsible for the website's content.

The imprint varies depending on the website and company type (e.g., sole proprietorship, GbR, GmbH, editorial office, etc.). Website operators should therefore seek legal advice to better understand which information is relevant for their own imprint.

Generally, the imprint includes: the company's full name and address; the company's telephone number, fax number, and email address; the name and address of the registration court/commercial register where the company is registered; the company's (commercial) registration number; the company's VAT identification number; and, if applicable, information on the relevant supervisory authority.

Further information can be found in the article “ Creating an imprint ”.
